prologuefilms
I will start with the description of my system. Xserve G4 Dual 1.33 Ghz 2 GB DDR SDRAM Scalar 24 with SNC 4000 and LT03 Atto Fibre Card Mac OS X Server 10.5.4 2 XRAID 8Tb Drives 1 EMC-Brocade DS 162b ver3.2.1b Retrospect Server 6.1.230 Retrospect driver 6.1.15.101 I reformat one of my raids and I restored all the files that I delete because of the formatting of the raid. I added some more files to the raid and I intended to update the back up set so it will reflect what I have now. When I intended to make a back up, Retrospect wants to do a full back up instead of an incremental back. The key is that the RAID was clean, I restored the files, I added some more files and I wanted to back up them. So I did a test on another Xserve (it is not a G4 is is a Xserve Pro) that is on tiger with has the similar configuration as it has two RAIDs and library. 2 XRAID 8Tb Drives Retrospect Server 6.1.230 Retrospect driver 6.1.15.101 Scalar 24 with SNC 4000 and LT03 Apple Quad Fibre Card I restored the files to one raid, added extra the files then I back up and retrospect did an incremental back up. The two retrospect have the same preference file. I hope I have included all the element that could be relevant to resolve this problem. Mayoff
Retrospect uses the name. size, creation and modify date/time, file kind, label and meta data. If all of this criteria is the same, then the file will not be copied again. If any of the criteria has changed then the file will get copied again. It sounds like something very minor (like a data) has changed in this situation.
prologuefilms
Just in case the problem that I have was not a fluke I tried again with a different set of files. I executed an immediate backup, after a while I stop it and then I wait few minutes and I executed an immediate backup again. Retrospect wants to do a full back up instead of an incremental one, but this time I copy the log so you can follow it. + Executing Immediate Backup at 8/29/2008 11:00 AM To backup set PRLG_BU_107_BB_Book… - 8/29/2008 11:00:19 AM: Copying BB_Book on RenderServe RAID… 8/29/2008 3:18:29 PM: Execution stopped by operator. I would appreciated any suggestion to resolve the problem. Thanks,
