Prioritize proactive backup scripts

Recommended Posts

I *love* proactive backup. We rotate between several hard drive backup sets, and it always "does the right thing".

However, we have different proactive backup scripts for servers and clients. It would be great if we could prioritize the server proactive backups above the client proactive backups- basically, if they have overlapping execution windows and there's a resource contention (backup sets, execution threads, whatever), only run client backups if there's no server backup work to be done.

This would be less of an issue if we were backing up to multiple backup sets, but we have to use a single one for servers and clients because our rotating hard drive backup sets have multiple members... and I've found that trying to put multiple backup sets with multiple members on the same set of disks is THE WAY OF PAIN.
