grooming

Recommended Posts

When I make Exchange log-backup, then how about grooming? If grooming deletes some log-files, then I can't restore database anymore.

Grooming should not remove items that are needed to recover the database. Retrospect uses the database history report to track all the parts needed to restore the database.

But what then grooming does at all in Exchange log-backup? (database backup even dont make snapshots - snapshot list remains empty)

Retrospect is going to groom based on the items in the snapshot list, taking Exchange/SQL backup data into account.

If your snapshot list is empty, then you can't use grooming on that backup set.
