clarkie
We purchased an Iomega Home Network Hard Drive 500Gb. It comes with EMC Retrospect HD (Backup). Didn't do what was neede so I downloaded 7.5 demo. Speed to this drive is weird... Connected it USB to do a Duplicate and the transfer rate is fluctuating from 23 MB/min to 0.1 MB/min. 3.2 Gb has taken 8hrs 42 minites with another 2GB to to. Any ideas why so slow? Mayoff
What file system is being used on the disk? FAT32 would be really slow.
clarkie
Ah - is that it? Yep it is Fat32. The drive needs to be this to work as a Network Drive. But why does the speed go up and down? Looks like I bought the wrong product. Is there a Network Drive that used NTFS that you know of? Thanks SC Edited April 1, 2008 by Guest
Mayoff
NTFS is a much faster file system. I suspect that could be a major factor.
