reproducible problem with an update

Recommended Posts

I don't have a service contract, but I have a reproducible problem with the 6.1.138 OS X update. Whenever I apply this update I get a device error when a script needs a new disk; I'm backing up to DVD+rw. The error doesn't occur when I'm manually backing up and need a new disk. When I uninstall 6.1.138 and reinstall 6.1.126 the problem goes away.

Who can I contact about this?

Mark.

The problem may be with your media (DVD+RW), and this is a known issue. The Read Me for the RDU version history clearly says that "Only DVD+R media" is supported for all RDU versions later than 6.1.11.101. See:

RDU version history

Your issue will be resolved if you install Retrospect 6.1.138 and then revert (install) the RDU to 6.1.11.101 (assuming that your device is supported by that version). The complete RDU version history, and links to downloads, is at the same Read Me link above for the RDU version history.

Okay, that's what I get for not reading the Readme.

I'll try installing .138 and downgrading the RDU.

As far as DVD+R media goes, anyone know if this is a permanent change? I see each RDU update after 6.1.11.101 only supports DVD+R, but there's no indication about the future. I use +R or -R media for archiving, but I wouldn't want to use it for rotation backups. It doesn't make sense to me to only support one type of DVD for backups, but what do I know.
