Dear Mac Retrospect forum,

I have just had an experience that has undermined my confidence in the 'search' catalog of Retrospect. Maybe I am missing something here or doing something daft.

I went looking for a particular folder called 'Term 22' searching in the 'Immediate' tab using 'Search for File or Folders' and 'contains' - I got '0' results searching both backup sets.

However when I went to a specific machine via the 'restore files for a backup' and choose a 'snapshot' I was able to find the 'Term 22' folder with all its files.

I always assumed the 'Search for File or Folders' option searched the complete backup set catalogs but this seems to indicate otherwise. I thgought I might have to rebuild the catalogs but as both sets appear to have this problem I am not sure why 'Search for File or Folders' is not finding things that are there on the backup.

any ideas

Ian
