Retro Duplicate mirrors changes

Recommended Posts

I have a power mac G4 agp with 256 mb ram and a 20gb internal hard drive.

I also have a QueM2 fire wire drive that is partitioned into two equal segments. One segment has Mac OS X 10.1 on it and the other has a duplicate of the internal hard drive which has system 9.2.2. The duplicate was made with Retrospect Express 4.3.

The fire wire partition with system 9.2.2 is the segment designated as the classic system when Mac OS X is running.

I wanted to turn off extensions in the firewire 9.2.2 partition but when I do the extensions are also turned off in the Internal hard drive as well. The OS 9.2.2 on the internal drive and the firewire partition seem to mirror each other.

There are no scripts active in Retrospect .

I have tried using each as a startup disk and making changes but cannot change one OS without the other changing.

Why is this? I want the OS that has classic function to be lean and mean for speed but I want to keep its extensions there if I ever have to restore my primary drive. Is this a Retrospect thing?
