ncidan
Problem - the local LAN office changed out the 3Com Core for the switches in the building and now the Retrospect server cannot see the clients using subnet broadcast. Direct via IP works but not subnet broadcast or multicast. All clients worked fine before the date they replaced the Core. I'm not familiar with switches or Cores. Anyone have any info I can pass on to our LAN office to fix this? Thanks!
rhwalker
Search the Retrospect Knowledge Base for multicast. There are a plethora of articles. Retrospect Knowledge Base The switch needs to pass the retrospect broadcast and multicast packets, and be open for TCP and UDP on port 497. If your network people won't configure the switch to pass the broadcast and multicast needed for client discovery, they can at least open port 497 (UDP and TCP) and you can add the clients by their IP. Better ensure that the IP doesn't change for the clients, whether by having them get their IP by static map DHCP based on MAC address, or by static IP for the clients.
