EricBergan
I updated to the new version of Retrospect (I'm running single server disk to disk), and was surprised there wasn't a new client update. I haven't upgraded the server to Vista yet, but I do have a Vista client running. Is backup of the system information (registry, etc) from a Vista client occuring correctly? I'm seeing the following in the log: File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\COMPONENTS": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SAM": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SECURITY": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SOFTWARE": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SYSTEM": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) File "C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup\EtwRTDiagLog.etl": can't read, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) File "C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup\EtwRTEventLog-Application.etl": can't read, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) File "C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup\EtwRTEventLog-System.etl": can't read, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) File "C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup\EtwRTEventlog-Security.etl": can't read, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) Thanks. atlauren
To expand a bit on the sparse release notes: Is this update needed for *running* Retrospect on Vista? Is this update needed for backing up Vista *clients*? Thank you, Andrew
EricBergan
With Win XP clients, I could see the server sit on "Registry" for a minute or so, and the client machine would basically freeze. I'm not seeing that with the Vista client. Is there some way for me to feel assured that the system state of the registry, etc., is being backed up on a Vista client? Thanks. AmyJ
The update is required to backup Vista locally or via the client.
