willfurby
I am currently running Multi Server Version 7.5.324 with Driver Update and Hot Fix version 7.5.9.102. We are running normal backups to internal drives Monday through Friday. This is the third time I have setup this backup. I have excluded the backup folders. The catalog file in on drive E:. When the backup size reaches about 500GB it starts to give me the following errors: -1/31/2007 10:00:25 PM: Copying Local Disk (C:) Trouble matching Local Disk (C:) to Daily3, error -1019 (not enough resources) -1/31/2007 10:04:48 PM: Copying New Volume (E:) Scanning incomplete, error -1019 (not enough resources) All of my remote servers get backed up without error. I have used the Retrospect Knowledge Base and several search engines; but, can't seem to find out *what* does not have enough resources, so I don't know what to fix. Currently my C: drive has 44.1GB free and my E: drive has 868GB free. There is over 5GB of RAM of which only 2GB is in use (according to Task Manager). Could someone please point me in the right direction? Does the catalog file have size limit? Thank you, Will
willfurby
UPDATE: The backup that ran on Friday (02/02/2007) night, reported the following: -2/2/2007 10:00:23 PM: Copying Local Disk (C:) Trouble matching Local Disk (C:) to Daily3, error -1019 (not enough resources) But this time it gave the same error for every source volume that I am backing up. This includes SQL databases, and mulitiple servers. I am hoping that someone can help me out here. I have tried the Retrospect Knowledge Base and it has no answers for this error. It is awfully vague. What doesn't have enough resources? And to do what? Will
yingqing
Have you read this KB article for error -1019? http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=7950&p=
willfurby
No, I had not seen that article. Thank you. However, I came in this morning and found that it ran without giving me any -1019 errors. I guess I have more research work on my end to find out what is going on. I will keep this posting updated. Lennart_T
That article link to a Microsoft article that doesn't even mention error -1019. I get the error on ONE client. Is this an error on the SERVER or the CLIENT? Server is a HP rack server, 2GB ram, 433GB free on boot drive, Xeon dual core processor, Windows 2003 Server. Retrospect 7.5.508, driver update 7.5.14.102. Client is a HP laptop with Win XP and client 7.5.116.
Mayoff
I think the error is happening at the server side. Try a different backup server to be sure. Make sure you have tried another backup set too.
Lennart_T
I'll try, but the only other backup server we have is still running Retrospect 7.0. Besides, this user is the one who is mostly on the road, so God only knows when he's back in the office, so I can actually do some testing... Lennart_T
OK, I got the same error on another server and another Backup Set. This server is Xeon 3GHz, 2 processors or one dual core, 3GB RAM, running Retrospect 7.0344, driver update 7.0.12.105, Peak ram usage 2GB. Mayoff
What does your log entry for the backup of this client? Do you get the same error scanning subvolumes? Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the client?

Mayoff
So your -1019 is totally different then the one described in the beginning of this thread. Your error does not happen during scanning, it happens when trying to backup the registry. What does the Windows Event Log say on the client computer? Have you tried installing Retrospect directly on this computer to see what happens during backup? Any idea if other tools can copy the registry from this computer? What happens if you turn off the System State backup option in Retrospect? Does the backup finish or do you get a different error? The user could have some registry corruption that is causing trouble.

Lennart_T
So your -1019 is totally different then the one described in the beginning of this thread. well, it's still the same error. Your error does not happen during scanning, it happens when trying to backup the registry. CorrectWhat does the Windows Event Log say on the client computer? Nothing related to the problem.Have you tried installing Retrospect directly on this computer to see what happens during backup?I don't have any spare license hanging around, sorry.Any idea if other tools can copy the registry from this computer? I don't know any other backup tools at all. What happens if you turn off the System State backup option in Retrospect? Does the backup finish or do you get a different error? Will test that and get back. The user could have some registry corruption that is causing trouble. That's possible. How can I test/fix that? Thanks you for your support. Mayoff
If you are running 7.0, then the "Can't back up WMI Repository, error 49652108 (unknown)" is coming directly from WIndows and you should have some type of Windows Event log error for your WMI. You don't need another license to test the install of Retrospect on the client. You just use your existing license for the test.

No, there was nothing in the event log that might have a connection to backing up. The user will be on the road again, with his laptop. Will do some more testing when he's back. Mayoff
I don't have a release date. The only known issue with the current beta is it may have limited tape drive access due to a device bug we introduced.
Lennart_T
Thanks. I rather have the WMI Repository error than a tape problem.
Lennart_T
Yes, I just did. The only thing that happened was that a LOT of files was backed up again (WHY???): Completed: 62525 files, 14,8 GB OK, so WHY did almost 15GB of data get backed up just by uninstalling and reinstalling the client software? Mayoff
MAYBE (I am not sure) it may be related to how Retrospect 7.5 tracks NTFS permissions. Permissions on files are tracked based on the archive bit (and a small set of retro temp files). WIth an uninstall/reinstall, the tracking info for the archive bit may have been lost forcing us to copy files again because we though the file permissions changed. I can't think of any other reason.
