Assertion failure (module.cpp-457) after writing to DVD drive

I'm using Retrospect 6.5.350 with XP home Ed., which always backs up OK to a network drive. For several months it backed up OK to my DVD (Plextor PX-712UF), but now I get the Assertion failure in module.cpp-457 error everytime after the data appears to have been written to a blank DVD, i.e. right after the DVD data light stops flashing. I've tried Install-Repair, rebooting, Repair Catalog file, creating a new backup set only to the DVD, read through a lot of online forum and other help, etc.

 

Any ideas on this problem? I'm puzzeled because it used to work fine, and then one day it developed this consistant problem.
