TSM
I've been all over the forums to try and figure out if this bug is picked up by EMC. I'm sorry if this is all ready answered, but I ask if someone with the means can confirm this. Several threads on this forum talks about the same problem - this is easy to reproduce: If you make a backup that uses Media Verification (the MD5 thing) and the backup spans more than one media (I've tried disks and tapes, others on these forums have tried DVD's - same result) then Retrospect only recognizes what ever is on the last media. Everything that is all ready backed up on the other media (all media except the last) is backed up again. If I do the exact same backup with Thorough Verification then everything works as it should. I'm using Retrospect Multi Server 7.5.324, RDU 7.5.9.102, Windows Server 2003 R2 with the latest patches. Any help is kindly appreciated. Happy holidays to everyone that celebrates Christmas :-) Kind regards, Henrik
sowen222
Hi Henrik, Has this bug been corrected in the latest versions? Scott.
TSM
Hi Scott, I haven't had the time to test this yet. There was no mentioning of a bug fix in the release notes... Kind regards, Henrik.
fastrecovery
Is the problem solved in version 7.5.508? I was not solved in versions available late 2007.
Mayoff
This is still an open bug. If you turn off verification and then schedule a verify after the fact, then you will probably not see this issue. You can also do a full catalog rebuild from the 1st member to workaround the issue. ihuff
Is this beta ever going to be released as a supported update to 7.5? Is it confirmed that this MD5 bug does not exist in 7.6? Thanks, Isaac Huff
Mayoff
This was released months ago. Please check the updates page for the current software for Mac and Windows. EMC Retrospect has no current beta program running. I am not sure what MD5 bug you are taking about. I know of a verify bug with jpg files which will be fixed in a week or two
ihuff
Retrospect 7.5.516 is mentioned as a beta in your post above dated 2008-04-24. The latest 7.5 update shown on the archive download page is 7.5.508. You said it "Fixed an MD5 verification error when spanning backup disks. Reported by Jason Z." This is the MD5 bug I am referring to. I am asking if 7.5.516 or something later will ever be a supported release.
Mayoff
Yes that is fixed. 7.6 is the current version
Mayoff
The "file didn't compare" bug should be fixed in the 7.6 release we posted earlier today. http://www.emcinsignia.com/updates
