7.5 Professional Ignorant Restore question

Recommended Posts

Please forgive my ignorance. I'm trying to test my Disaster Recovery boot CD and restore one or two files from the disaster recovery backup set. Boots o.k., then wants to restore the Windows Pro OS to whichever partition I select. Q. Is this a "nondestructive" process? I really don't want to actually overwrite my current working OS just to perform this test... but I cancelled the process because I saw no indication that the OS from the boot disk wasn't going to overwrite my working OS.

Yet I remembered seeing somewhere (or hallucinated) that this Disaster Recovery process was going to load the recovery OS to a RAM disk, or some other temporary process. If true, I could test my Recovery Set by just pulling over one or two insignificant files (e.g. a Word document).
