extoGetTree - cannot instantiate tree object for this volume -833

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm running Retrospect 7.5 server to the 7.5 Exchange client, and I'm getting the following error condition in the log:

Code:

-	12/7/2006 3:57:10 PM: Copying Exchange Mailboxes on blargexc

extoGetTree - cannot instantiate tree object for this volume -833

12/7/2006 3:57:10 PM: Execution incomplete

I haven't found anything regarding that message anywhere so far.

This is the environment I'm running:

Retrospect 7.5 on Server 2003 Standard R2.

Exchange Server 5.5 (yes, I know...) in a virtual server running Win 2000 on the same machine, using Microsoft's Virtual Server.

The virtual machine's "drive" is on the 2003 server's c: drive. The backup is going to the 2003 server's d: drive, so there shouldn't be any conflicts.

The complete log follows:

Code:

+	Executing Immediate Backup at 12/7/2006 3:56 PM (Execution unit 1)

To Backup Set Mail...

Any ideas?

Hi Stephen -

Is the error occurring on all mailboxes or just specific mailboxes? You could try running the Microsoft ESEUTIL to look for problems with the database, but if the problem is specific to a mailbox or two I'd assume possible corruption in the mailbox. If that was the case you may want to make a new mailbox for that user and move their data into it. It's been a while since I've put my hands on Exchange 5.5 so I don't know if that's possible or easy to do.

Is this a new problem or have there always been errors?

Thanks,

Amy

Thanks for the reply, Amy.

This is on a test box. There's only 4 mail accounts set up in Exchange. It could simply be that Retrospect is complaining because 2 of the mailboxes have never been logged in to, nor do they have any mail sent to them, so they're uninitialized.

The log doesn't specify if this is an error with any specific mailbox, so I can't tell what it's tripping up on.
