mvs
When attempting to restore a file backup set, I receive "Couldn't open Catalog File Clock4.rbf, error -1020 (sharing violation)." If I select Tools, Repair Catalog, I receive the same error message. Please help. The server crashed and need to restore this data.
Mayoff
If this backup set is not in use already, then you might have a damaged catalog file. Do a Tools>Repair>Repair File Backup instead of "update" to the catalog. Restart the computer if needed to see if that helps. Check the properties on the file to make sure it is available to "everyone" and not Read Only.
mvs
I receive the same error message when I chose Tools/Repair/Repair File Backup set. The file was set to archive, not read only, but I removed the archiving and still received the same message.

AmyJ
If you actually make a new copy of the file (Copy > Paste) in a new location can you access the copy? Where is the file stored? On a local drive? External? Network?
mvs
File Copy of Clock4.rbf is not a Catalog File or is heavily damaged. The copy and the original are stored on a local hard drive.
Mayoff
Are you able to do a "rebuild" on the copy? It does sound like something corrupted the backup set.

TLReed
Vicki, You might want to make sure your hard drive has free space. I had the exact same error on a system and that was the problem. Sharing violations and damaged catalog until I made some free space and recreated the catalogue from tape.
mvs
The data was being saved to a hard drive in another system versus tape. How would I recreate the catalogue from the hard drive? I have plenty of space available on the hard drive to restore. Where would the original catalogue file reside and what would the file be named? Did you use version 5.x to backup and restore?
