wwolfe Posted June 16, 2002 Report Share Posted June 16, 2002 I haven't been able to get backup to CD-R's working on the Titanium Powerbook G4/800's internal CD-RW drive (MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8121). I'm using OSX 10.1.5 and Retrospect Desktop 5.0.205 with RDU 2.7.102. I'm able to complete a backup, but the comparison fails: ? Retrospect version 5.0.205 launched at 6/14/2002 5:19 PM + Retrospect Driver Update, version 2.7.102 + Executing Immediate Backup at 6/14/2002 6:42 PM To backup set CDBackupThree… - 6/14/2002 6:42:15 PM: Copying Users on Trixie… 6/14/2002 8:48:23 PM: Comparing Users on Trixie… Internal consistency check failed: Assertion check at "module.c-654" I get the same message when I try to verify the backup set, restore a file, and even when I try to select "configure->devices" if the CD is in the drive. This has occurred across several restarts, and on three different types of CD-R media. From the Device Status window: ID: ATAPI-A Vendor: MATSHITA Product: CD-RW CW8121 Version: AA17 Driver: Panasonic CD-RW (5.01). Isn't this drive supported? The particular drive, the Panasonic (Matshita) 8121 would produce an error 100 when backing up. We are pleased to announce that this has been fixed with the release of the Retrospect Driver Update (RDU) 2.8. AmyJ Posted November 19, 2002 Report Share Posted November 19, 2002 Panasonic CW-8121 (Apple) drive Due to potential dataloss issues with this drive, the minimum supported drive firmware revision is AA21. This firmware revision (or later) is on drives included with the currently shipping PowerBook G4 computers new as of 11/2002. Firmware revision AA21 addresses a serious dataloss defect where used discs will have an "erased" status and drastically improved performance when used with Retrospect.
