jweisbin
Each time I do "Check Script" I get this message: Appending to tape "10-backup Set B [001]" 1 K available (0%) of 9.2 G total capacity I can't find any documentation about what exactly the last line means. i'm using a VXA-2 packet loader, so each tape can handle 80 GB uncompressed. This is the 10th tape of a backup set, but I removed the other 9 and put in 9 fresh erased tapes. In about a month of "normal" backups, Retrospect has not progressed past this 10th tape, and I'm worried that it's just overwriting the same tape again and again. The above message would seem to indicate that the tape has no capacity left, and Retro should skip to the next one - but so far it hasn't. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks. natew
Hi You can ignore this. Retrospect is making a very poor guess at how much data your drive can hold. Its only an estimation and has no bearing on the actual backup or drive capacity. Retrospect will write to a tape until the physical end of media is reached. jweisbin
Thanks - I guess I just haven't reached the end of the tape yet (I hope!)
jweisbin
Whenever the "normal" backup finishes, the tape drive says "rewinding tape". Is this normal?
natew
Hi Yes. If you would rather it didn't you can turn off this feature in the preferences. Thanks Nate
