art-et
Hi! We are using Retrospect 6.0.193 on a Xserver with OSX 10.3.3. and we are backing up to One´s Aludisc 160GB Combo (Firewire). The back-up has been running nice for a long time but suddenly we receive between 150 and 300 errors in the log file. The error is "miscompare at data offset" What dos that mean? ...and why dos it occur? It is not the same file or type of files that fails every day. One day a specific file can fail and the next day it dos not fail - even if we did not try to fix it. We contacted Apple and they wanted us to go from OSX 10.3.4 to 10.3.3 but with no luck. We have also formatted all the discs but that did not solve it. Anyone any ideas? Thanks
natew
Hi I have heard of this kind of thing from other users too. I suspect there may be some problems with firewire communication in OSX. One thing to try would be using your external drive in a "removable disk" backup set in Retrospect. You can do this by checking the "use USB/FW disks as removables" preference. Thanks Nate
