mott
I completely restored a computer running Windows Server 2012 with a disaster recovery disc. A huge amount of log entries similar to this one appeared in the in the log: T-35: MapError: unknown Windows error 305T-35: TPCFile::SetShortName: USetFileShortName failed, \\?\Volume{4d29a860-ade5-11e3-93e7-806e6f6e6963}\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\PendingRenames, osErr 305, error -1001 Where do the errors come from?
Mayoff
That error is coming from the Microsoft VSS service. I suspect that you can ignore the error. The error happens when Windows is trying to set a short file name.
mott
That error is coming from the Microsoft VSS service. I suspect that you can ignore the error. The error happens when Windows is trying to set a short file name. I suspect that you can't ignore the error and that the disaster recovery disc formats the drive with the disable8dot3 option and thus 8.3 hardlinks can't be created. Please report this bug to your development team.
