How to Restore from 6.x on non-PowerPC

Recommended Posts

After a few years of letting my old Retrospect 6.x archive sit idle, I decided today to restore the archive and put it on a much larger disk. When I went to restore the archive, an error message came up saying I couldn't do this because I was using a non PowerPC (I am using the latest an iMac, one generation back). I updated to 6.3.2.x and it installed fine, but when I try and restore, the client doesn't see the archive. when I click on the archive, it says it can't run because I'm using a non PowerPC.

Any suggestions?

OSes beyond 10.6.x do not enable Rosetta, which is required to run PowerPC applications like Retrospect 6 on an Intel machine. Retrospect 6 is actually not certified to run on OSes beyond 10.5.x, though for restores of documents (not system files or applications), it will often work under 10.6.x.

You need to find yourself an older Mac to run Retrospect 6.
