binfieldprint
I have been running Retrospect for years I have lots of cd, dvd and hard drive archives in retrospect 6. We used to have PPC G5 iMacs here but overtime one by one they have all died. I have replaced these with new intel iMacs but Retrospect 6 will not configure with the superdrives on these so i can only read my hard drive/file archives. I have upgraded to Retrospect 8 to try and read our cd and dvd archives I have followed instructions to try and rebuild the catalogues to get these disk to work but all to no avail. Has anybody got any ideas of what i can do i desperately need to recover some jobs from a dvd.
Daniels
You need to enable optical support to allow DVDs to be used as backup media. See tech note 9720 in the knowledge base for instructions on how to do this.

Daniels
I am not positive but the ability to read older backup sets from Retrospect 6 was added in Retrospect 9.
twickland
... the ability to read older backup sets from Retrospect 6 was added in Retrospect 9. Not true. Retrospect 8.2 can read Retrospect 6 backups sets.

Mayoff
Do you have a supported optical drive? It may be helpful to see an attachment of the error you are getting.
Daniels
Not true. Retrospect 8.2 can read Retrospect 6 backups sets. I was not positive on this information and it would have been better if you used the entire post instead of just a snippet.
Daniels
If 8.2 can read 6 backup sets then what you need to do is create a new 8 backup set and build the catalog for that backup set from your R6 CDs.
