Retrospect 8 Error -1102 Drive Missing or invalid error

Platform: Windows 8 / Retrospect 8 Pro backing up Windows 8 / Retrospect client 8 (165)

I had been backing up this client's C drive just fine until yesterday when I configured bitlocker (password unlock method) on both my C: (boot) and D: drive on the client system. Once I did that the next backup gives me error -1102 on the C : drive only. The backup of the D: drive works just fine.

I get the same error if I use the clients properties from the backup machine and try to browse that volume. Note that this doesn't seem to be a problem with seeing the volume itself - but more of a problem with being able to browse its contents, for example.

Any known issues with bitlocker on the boot volume?

Have you tried forgetting the problem client and then adding it back to Retrospect? It could be that when BitLocker encrypted the boot volume it made some changes to it that mean it now appears to be a different volume to the one that Retrospect originally found there. From the little I have read about BitLocker it appears that system and boot volumes are handled differently to data volumes.

I have had similar errors from Retrospect when I have resized a client volume and not updated Retrospect to reflect the volume change.

It is also possible to update the volumes is the client properties but forgetting and adding back the client ensures that no ghost volumes remain for that client.
