davidharland
I have recently set up Retrospect 8 on a Mac Mini Server running OS X 10.8.2. I am backing up to an AIT2 Tape Drive. All my scripts seem to be working but I am concerned about the meaning of the yellow warning triangles that show at the left of the 'Error & Messages" report. Can anybody explain what they mean? I enclose a screen shot to illustrate what I refer to.
Lennart_T
It means there were warnings during execution. Click on the log button further down (outside the screen shot) to see the warnings.
davidharland
Thanks for your advice. I had not seen that button at the bottom of the screen. The Summary says "Execution Completed Successfully" but the Log gives a string of errors, can you explain what they mean and are they anything to be concerned about? Lennart_T
Let's take the last question first: No, it's nothing to be concerned about. A backup starts with scanning the source, matching which files are already backed up, copying the new/changed files and system state. Then the verify/compare starts. If files have been changed or deleted between the time they were backed up and the time they were compared, you will get a warning. It looks mostly like log files and database files have changed, which is OK. Lauchservices is also OK. "MapError: unknown Mac error 20". That is a bogus message that is common for most users. Just ignore it.
davidharland
Thanks Would the fact that we have an external HD with Time Machine running cause any of these errors?
