pkarnik
Hi, I have been having issues backing up certain files. I am backing up large ProTool sessions and audio files (200 GB or so). If one set of files quit I will try to backup a different set and it will work fine. Then I will go back and try the files that didn't work and it quits. any idea what may be in the files that causes it to quit? There is no log of the backup. Lennart_T
You don't mention which OS you are running. Retrospect 6.1 is only supported up to (and including) Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. (It isn't supported on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or later.) Have you repaired the problematic source drive? (...using for instance Apple's Drive Utility.) pkarnik
ah I am running 10.6.8. It works fine backing up other files though. Is there an update? I wonder if I can install a second OS just for Retospect.
Lennart_T
There is no update. You could upgrade to Retrospect 9. Update=free. Upgrade=paid. Yes, you can install the original 10.5.6 on a separate disk/partition.
pkarnik
If I upgrade to 9 can I still restore all of my ver 6 backups?
Lennart_T
Yes: http://www.retrospect.com/en/partners/qna
twickland
If I upgrade to 9 can I still restore all of my ver 6 backups? You may also find, as we did, that Retro 6 runs well enough on Snow Leopard in your system to enable restores of document files. This would avoid the necessity for rebuilding a v9 catalog from your v6 tapes.
