Lennart_T
+ Retrospect version 7.6.123 + Driver Update and Hot Fix, version 7.6.2.101 Windows 2003 Server. HP Ultrium LTO3 autoloader. The tapes should be 400GB native capacity. We reuse the tapes after two months and we get around 500 GB per tape. The last two batches of tapes we bought (with about six months between) seems to cause some problems. We don't even get the native capacity of 400GB per tape. Here's the last three weeks of backups. The two top ones are with reused tapes. The bottom one is with brand new tapes. Here is more details about the tape usage. The top one is old tapes, the bottom one with new tapes: We just insert the brand new tapes into the loader. We don't erase them or anything, as it hasn't been necessary previously. Why is this happening? Should we erase the tapes before use? The short erase or the long ("multi hour") erase?
Lennart_T
The "long erase" didn't help. What is it with new tapes?
