ferthalangur
I have three Sources that are different volumes mounted from the same NAS (iomega StorCenter px4-300). I want Retrospect to back each of them up every hour. I have two alternating scripts, each writing to a different Media Set, each which is a Source tha is a volume mounted from a different NAS (Buffalo LS/QL). Everything is mounted using AFP. It seems that occasionally, Retrospect throws the following error message: MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. and then remounts the share point to be backed up, and then backs up the Source (from one of the mounted share points). The content on each share point to be backed up is very small right now, it's taking about 5 seconds for the backups. I am wondering why Retrospect is failing to see the original Source mount and then doing a new AFP mount. The "offline" Sources are not unmounted and I'm getting a lot of spurious mount points on my server. Log message example: MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. MacProLoc::PGetAbles: Could not connect to share. Mark as offline. + Normal backup using Backup StorCenter Set C at 4/10/12 (Activity Thread 3) To Backup Set Server_C_on_BUF1... - 4/10/12 9:00:02 AM: Copying Outreach 4/10/12 9:00:02 AM: No files need to be copied 4/10/12 9:00:07 AM: Snapshot stored, 137 KB 4/10/12 9:00:09 AM: Execution completed successfully Duration: 00:00:06 (00:00:05 idle/loading/preparing) - 4/10/12 9:00:09 AM: Copying Publications 4/10/12 9:00:09 AM: No files need to be copied 4/10/12 9:00:12 AM: Snapshot stored, 171 KB 4/10/12 9:00:15 AM: Execution completed successfully Duration: 00:00:05 (00:00:04 idle/loading/preparing) - 4/10/12 9:00:15 AM: Copying CHS_IT 4/10/12 9:00:15 AM: No files need to be copied 4/10/12 9:00:17 AM: Snapshot stored, 70 KB 4/10/12 9:00:20 AM: Execution completed successfully Duration: 00:00:05 (00:00:04 idle/loading/preparing) The AFP mount points on my server: afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-61.2d000010 1467289600 759158784 708130816 52% /Volumes/backups_sc1-1 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-138.2d000036 1257779200 563832 1257215368 1% /Volumes/Outreach afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-139.2d000037 1257779200 144832 1257634368 1% /Volumes/Publications afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-137.2d000038 104806400 88168 104718232 1% /Volumes/CHS_IT afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-134.2d00003d 1467289600 756980336 710309264 52% /Volumes/backups_sc1-2 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-135.2d000047 1467289600 916662800 550626800 63% /Volumes/backups_sc1-3 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-136.2d000050 1467289600 921888000 545401600 63% /Volumes/backups_sc1-4 afp_002NhL002NhL002NhL002NhL-1.2d000051 1937256960 587920 1936669040 1% /Volumes/bkup_buf1-1 afp_002NhL002NhL002NhL002NhL-2.2d000052 1937256960 582784 1936674176 1% /Volumes/bkup_buf1-2 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-139.2d000053 1257779200 144832 1257634368 1% /Volumes/Publications-1 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-137.2d000054 104806400 88168 104718232 1% /Volumes/CHS_IT-1 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-138.2d000055 1257779200 563832 1257215368 1% /Volumes/Outreach-1 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-139.2d000056 1257779200 144832 1257634368 1% /Volumes/Publications-2 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-137.2d000057 104806400 88168 104718232 1% /Volumes/CHS_IT-2 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-139.2d000058 1257779200 144832 1257634368 1% /Volumes/Publications-3 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-139.2d000059 1257779200 144832 1257634368 1% /Volumes/Publications-4 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-138.2d00005a 1257779200 563832 1257215368 1% /Volumes/Outreach-2 afp_0reYK43TPuUM4AZvB82MFMjM-137.2d00005b 104806400 88168 104718232 1% /Volumes/CHS_IT-3 Has anyone seen something similar? Nothing else running on the server has any reason to mount AFP shares -- it is all Retrospect.
Mayoff
What Mac OS version are you using? Have you asked Retrospect to mount using afp://servername/sharename or have you forgotten the share name?

ferthalangur
On a related question ... why doesn't Retrospect unmount a mount point in either SMB or AFS that it has created when I "forget" it in Sources? I would expect Retrospect to undo with "-" what Retrospect has done with "+" ... all other things being equal.
