bradp015
iv rec. upgraded to v9 from 6.2 in 6.2 i could disable compare globally. that saved a lot of time. in 9, using a BU assistant, it does compares on each volume and the compares are mixed in with the backup task. Q: is there any way to disable the compare function when using the backup assistant? Q: is there any way to turn a chime (sound) on when retro. is asking for a new media member. (so you dont have to sit in front of the mac, waiting for it to ask for a new member...)(or waste time ;-) i find the little tiny box blinking not much of a notification, like in v6.2 a big dialog box would come up and the disk was ejected.. easy to see from the other side of the room. also, the dvd drive does not automatically open when a new member is needed during backup. i feel like im driving bacwards now that iv upgraded to 9... ;-) many feature's ive been using have been removed :-( i do use this program differently than most, to backup clients files manually. i dont use auto or scheduled backups... thanks b

See page 202 (or was it 203?) in the user's guide. That way you don't even have to be within hearing distance.
bradp015
Set up e-mail notification. See page 202 (or was it 203?) in the user's guide. That way you don't even have to be within hearing distance. good idea, actually i just dont want to be tied to the same room/chair, or continuously check the screen... ;-) having it spit out the media would be helpful as well... like in vers 6.2 actuall i can be sitting at the computer doing something else with retro in the backround, and not know if it needs media... ;-)
bradp015
Q: is there any way to disable the compare function when using the backup assistant? yup, sure is! i use retro to backup client session and audio files over days, weeks and months. instead of useing just the BU assistant, 1st make the client folder a favorite then build a script using that folder as source you can then deselect the verify function in the script i would say the retro people are not reading the posts, i posted to the wrong thread, or they are not sure on how to problem solve pretty easy issues?? CallMeDave
i would say the retro people are not reading the posts... I would assume so, as this is not a Retrospect technical support conduit. For developer tech support you open a ticket from their website.
