If i reinstall the server software, will I be able to read my old backups?

If you're running under OS X, your Retrospect "administrator password" enabling access to the Retrospect application is the same account password that you use to log onto your computer. The place to change this is in the Accounts page of System Preferences. I hope you didn't mean the password you may have used to protect your backup set(s). If you lose that password, you are hosed; you won't be able to access your data.
