5. When we are trying to open the retrospect application, a error is generating i.e. "Retrospect has encountered a serious error: Assertion failure at "arc.cpp-1643"

and then the software just close down. Kindly refer to the attachment as per last posting.

go to \Documents and settings\all users\application data\retrospect\

Drag both config76.dat and config76.bak to the desktop and try launching Retrospect. If all goes well, it will ask you for the license code. Exit Retrospect and restore the config76.dat file from a backup.

We have done the same as suggested by you, but still the problem is there. The same error is coming.

Retrospect throws an error , when trying to initialize

If you have removed the config files and you still get this error when launching Retrospect, you may want to try one more thing.

 

Go back to documents and settings/all users/application data and rename the Retrospect folder to "Retrospect old". Then try to open Retrospect. If this does not work, I agree you should uninstall and reinstall Retrospect. If that still does not work, try to disconnect all backup devices from the computer and try again.

dear sir,

 

the software was installed 2 years back and was working fine, but for 2-3 weeks its not working.

 

We are unable to do the uninstall as the we dont want to hamper the backup-scripts / configuration done with this software.

 

If you can let us know the procedure to take backup of those configuration, we can give a try.

To backup the configuration:

go to \Documents and settings\all users\application data\retrospect\

Drag both config76.dat and config76.bak to a USB-stick or a backup hard drive. Or burn them on a CD-R.

Now as per my knowledge the Retrospect software is owned by Roxio.

 

 

Now they want to AMC or Renewal of Service for this software.
