rsprinkle
I just upgraded from 7.6 to 7.7 Multi server. We have the Add-on Value pack already installed but the User Initiated Restore site reports "Could not connect to Retrospect". I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this one. Mayoff
I would uninstall and reinsall UIR on the computer. Do you have IIS installed?
rsprinkle
I have uninstalled/reinstalled UIR with the same results. IIS is installed since this has been up and running for about two years. The web page opens, it just says it cannot connect to Retrospect. IIS is installed since this has been up and running for about two years. The web page opens, it just says it cannot connect to Retrospect. According to the user's guide, you have to launch the application on the server for UIR to function. Since it is unfeasible to stay logged in onto the server all the time just to keep UIR running, I created a task that is executed at each server boot that simply executes the retrospect.exe binary as the local administrator. It's really sad having to do that but the dev team has really slacked off on that one. Hopefully in the next release, UIR will run as a stand alone service. Naturally, when you log in you will get the "Retrospect is already running in another user's session" - make sure there are no jobs running so that you can take it over. The only issue with this method is that you can't log off anymore otherwise UIR will stop working. The only solution left is that once you are logged off, to remotely start the task as if the server was booting so that the binary will start again.
