futureprospects
Hi, Is it possible to install/run the Retrospect client on Linux amd64-xeon? We're considering purchasing Retrospect for our Ubuntu EMT64 servers, but only if it works on amd64-xeon. Anybody know if this is possible, or not??? nekr0phage
Hi, The client is supported on x64 architecture with RHEL 3 WS/ES and 4 WS/ES. Ubuntu is not a supported OS, but I have heard that some people have had it work. In short, you'll have to try it to see unless someone else can confirm that it works for them. Here is a link to supported operating systems for the linux client: http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=5566&p=
mauricev
The x64-version of the client crashes, so it's really unusable at present. But you can actually use the 32-bit version of the client (from 6.5!), but to do that you need to create a mini 32-bit Linux environment with libraries and all. You have to chroot to this environment launching the client in the process. To see your volumes, you need to mount under the 32-bit root using mount -o bind.
