Content unrecognized

Retro SBS 7.x no problems until very recently when suddenly tapes (LTO-2) that are part of existing backup sets now say "Content unrecognized" in devices.

If I format them they will work fine but obviously they lose the data that is on them!

Repair catalogue from tape does not work.

Any ideas?

Make sure the Windows drivers for your tape drive are disabled. Retrospect has its own drivers.


There may also be a hardware problem with the tape drive itself. You might want to try some test backups with NT backup to see if similar problems occur. If so, you should contact the drive manufacturer for warranty repair.
