The ability to "lock" a backup set, preventing appending

This may be something rather useless to most people, but the ability to lock a backup set, preventing further appending would be a nice feature. Adding on to that, giving the option to have a cryptographic signature of the volumes appended at the end, so tampering would be evident would help as well for checking if an archive was tampered with.
