getting 1001 error....

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to do a full backup of an exchange server for the disaster recovery CD but it keeps on giving me an 'trouble reading files, Unknown Windows error- error 1001' when I do the full backup.

I have checked the databases and they are fine, and a backup of just the exchange data works without problem.

I have checked the RAM, the HD for errors, and the event viewer and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this computer.

Can anyone tell me why the full backup is failing on the exchange box?

have tried backing up to tape and to HD as a file.

OS is XP on the backup server and 2003 server std. edition on the exchange box.

Exchange is 2003

Retrospect version is 7.0 multi-server with all add-ons

Backup type: Full

T-160: MapError: unknown Windows error -1,003

Trouble reading files, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error)

Completed: 0 files, zero KB

Performance: 0.0 MB/minute

But I've gone through all of the mailboxes and things and I can't seem to find any problems with anything that might cause it.

Hi

Are there any errors in your event log in regard to this backup?

Your log seems to indicate that the database backup is failing and not mailbox backup. To clarify: Retrospect can sucessfully back up the full exchange database right? Does NT backup give any errors when you try to backup exchange?

Thanks

Nate
