cerckert Posted September 14, 2005 Report Share Posted September 14, 2005 Ok, so I just installed the latest version of Dantz Retrospect 7 for Small Business Server 2003 Standard (SP1) running on a Dell PowerEdge 2850, raid 5, 3 partitions, backing up to a granite digital 2 drive smart drive rack. I setup Dantz to run under the administrator to perform backup operations. I am not backing up any clients, but I seem to have an unusually large number of errors, just backing up the server. I'm new to this but it seems that since I'm using some share point services that seem to depend on sqlsrver and exchange. I have a feeling that this causing most of the errors. Do I need to buy add ons to back up these components. I also have client home folders that sync to the server and roaming profiles enabled. natew Posted September 16, 2005 Report Share Posted September 16, 2005 Hi All of these errors are caused by files that are locked/in use or have changed while the backup was running. Have you turned on the "backup open files" option in your backup script? I believe that option is enabled for free for the first 45 days. After that you would need to purchase the open file backup add on to get rid of the errors completely. Even though share point is SQL based the Retrospect SQL agent will not back it up.
