Write procted message

In attempting to backup my hard drive, I get as far as window "Backup Set A". Upon clicking "Proceed", get message "The disk is write protected. Please unlock and try again."

 

My setup:

Retrospect Express 4.3 Mac INT

MAC OS 9.2.2

LaCie CD-RW 52x24x52

Maxwell CD-R Pro 48x disks

Fire Wire connection

Hi

 

Is this the first time you have backed up to this backup set? Is the disc blank or has it been used before? If you put in a new blank disc what happens?

I have been running Retrospect 5.1 for several years on my G4 Mac without major problems, but lately I get an "Incompatible (unknown CD/DVD)" message when I insert a disk for backup. If I select "Proceed" the message "The disc is write protected. Please unlock it and try again" appears.

I have tried different mfr. disks new and used but nothing works. Am I missing something - is there a simple way to unlock a disc?

 

This is the same problem as message #60429. but I don't see an answer to the question
