WinXP vs. Retrospect 7 Compression

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

I recently installed Retrospect 7 on my WinXP SP2 box to backup directly to an external USB drive. The scripts are working great and I can finally sleep at night knowing my data is backed up.

When I installed the USB drive, which I purchased specifically for this purpose, I formated NTFS as with the rest of my system and enabled XP compression, thinking that would be a great way to save space and store more on the drive. Here are my questions...

1. Does Retrospect 7 Pro have it's own built-in compression when backing up to disk?

2. If so (above), which one gives the better compression ratio, XP or Retrospect?
