Information Store backup - error -3681

Hi, am using Retrospect Multi Server 7.0.265, with Update Version 7.0.3.101, running on Windows 2003 Server, with all current Microsoft updates installed.

 

The Exchange server is Exchange 2000 Enterprise, on Windows 2000 Advanced Server, again fully patched, with Retrospect client version 7.0.107.

 

When I try to back up the Information Store, it tries for about 15 seconds, then I get in the event viewer - "Trouble reading files, error -3681 (Backup is already active)".

 

If I restart all the services I get this. If I reboot both servers I get this. Where and how is the backup already active?!
