wpk777
hi, i've used search on the forums but don't seem to find any specific info about using retrospect to execute a remote backup using the internet (there is some discussion of it concerning MACs). okay, here is the lowdown. i would like to do a remote backup using the internet. it would be done using an external mator 300gb drive and restrospect software (we have not purchased the maxtor/retrospect package yet as we are still researching, but believe the version would be 6.5 or perhaps 7, whichever is shipping in these bundled packs). it would be for windows pc operating xp with sp2 installed. we would like to back up 40 gig initially, then do daily backups on changed files. it would be possible to do the first image copy on site and then start the daily backups off site. our broadband speed typically runs in the 1gb/ps range. is it possible to do remote backups using retrospect over the internet? what kind of software as an interface between the two machines would we need so retrospect can view the drive(s)? obvioulsy we would like to automate the process to run overnight. we would like to use file compression and encryption. well, thats a lot to ask but sure would appreciate any feedback you guys can give. thanks for your help. wpk777
natew
Hi Retrospect for Windows does not have this kind of feature built in. You would need to backup to a local disk and then use another utility to upload the changed files to the internet disk. Thanks Nate

natew
Hi We are aware that this feature is something WIndows users would like as well. However we cannot comment on future functionality of our products. Thanks Nate
