maaki
I have my old 8500/G3, running Mac OS 9.1, set up as a Retrospect Backup Server, scheduled to run nightly to back up a B&W G3 and an iMac G5, both running Panther. There have been a series of failures for one reason or another. The last few nights, the problem has to do with the server remaining in "idle/loading/preparing" instead of actually performing the scheduled backup. For example, last night the server ran only 9 seconds but then was idle for almost 12 hours, while 229 files were still waiting to be backed up. The result was that the iMac got a report that the backup was incomplete. Here's the log for that part of the action. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ + Normal backup using BU->2004-12-03 iMac (File) at 12/23/2004 8:00 PM To backup set 2004-12-03 iMac (File)… - 12/23/2004 8:00:57 PM: Copying Desk on Maakis iMac… 12/23/2004 8:00:57 PM: Connected to Maakis iMac 12/24/2004 8:00:01 AM: Script execution terminated at specified stop time. 12/24/2004 8:00:01 AM: Execution incomplete. Remaining: 226 files, 2912 KB Completed: 0 files, zero KB Performance: 0.0 MB/minute Duration: 11:59:04 (11:58:55 idle/loading/preparing) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ By changing the custom schedule, I have been able to get the backup going manually, but the scheduled backup session, fails again the next night. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking to fix this problem? Maaki
natew
Hi If you schedule a script to run 5 minutes from now does it run properly? Is the backup server going to sleep by any chance? Thanks Nate
