Worked for me too! Thank you so much for this post! I was pulling my hair out. Good riddance to One Drive!! It will not be missed.... BTW: I am still using Retrospect 11.5 on Windows 10 as I object to having to pay a fortune every time there is an update, so offering an expensive update as a solution to every problem doesn't sit too well with me... just saying...

For the first time I am trying to use selectors and they just don't seem to work very well. The interface seems clumsy and unnecessarily confusing. Some selectors work and others don't do what you ask of them. Is this just me or is it something weird about Retrospect and I should just avoid selectors altogether?

I am new to networks and have a simple 2 PC network at home. I am trying to duplicate some files from the XP machine to some external hard drives attached to the Win 7 machine. I keep getting the error: can't write security information, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) I have spent every day all week trying to solve this and am tearing my hair out!! I really don't know what else to do and my brain is spinning! Why does Retrospect have to be so temperamental and finicky!? Please help me someone....

I fiddled a bit more and managed to get it to work using my ISP's smtp server! I am still confused as to why I can't get Gmail's smtp to work though.

I am new to these forums, but have bumbled along with Retrospect for many years, just fiddling to get things to work. Since Windows 7 does not allow Retrospect to run "in the open" and you don't really know what is going on with the scripts, I am trying to set up Retrospect 8 to email me when there is a script failure or media request. I have entered in all the details for my Gmail account, but keep getting the following error when I try to send a test email: "Email notification failed: error -592 (invalid response from SMTP server)" Please can someone help me to get this working. I don't really know what I am doing!
