  1. Problems with the HELP area in Retrospect 8 for Windows (in Windows 7) I go to the HELP tab - it opens a window - I try to search for a topic and I get this message in the window to the right: NAVIGATION TO THE WEBSITE WAS CANCELED. What you can try: Retype the address. -------------------------------- There is NO address entered. Only clicking on the topic in the left column that I need help with. For some unknown reason - it is not accessing Windows Explorer and opening a HELP window in Explorer. I have Windows Explorer 9. Solutions anyone? Thank you.
  2. Problems above resolved by Retrospect technicians. They had provided me a Disk to Disk license upgrade version of the software in error. I have always had the Professional version. So the software backups are now flawless. But I still cannot access the HELP area inside the software. Retrospect Help window opens in the software and then the adjacent window says: Navigation to the website was canceled. I am guessing this might be because I am not using Explorer as my default browser. I use Firefox. Thus NO HELP is available inside the software. ------------------------------------- I am also having a problem creating a Disaster Recovery disc which I mention in another topic post. Anyone else have these issues with Retrospect 8 (Professional) for Windows? Thank you.
  3. I am having a problem with the Disaster Recovery disc creation process in Retrospect 8. I installed the Windows AIK for Windows 7 successfully. Got the file here: http://www.microsoft...em-requirements I followed the Retrospect tutorial exactly. See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKlhTd8j6YE&feature=plcp ---------------------------------- The process begins - 9 files are located - The process says "Disaster Recovery preparation in progress" "Building your Disaster Recovery disc image file..." Then it stops and I get this message: "Disaster Recovery preparation completed with errors. Retrospect encountered problems while preparing for Disaster Recovery and can't continue, Please see the log for details." Here is the log file: + Retrospect version 8.0.0 (199) Launched at 11/9/2012 3:21 PM + Executing Prepare for Disaster Recovery at 11/9/2012 3:26 PM Can't continue execution, error -1 ( unknown) --------------------------------- Anyone having similar problems? Thank you.
  4. Jim - I think I know the problem. I am logged in as a Local User and not a Specified User (i.e.) administrator. I tried to change this in the the software under Configure Preferences Security After I made that change to Specified User - it tells me to exit Retrospect and restart the program for the changes to take effect. I try this and I get this message: Retrospect could not be started under the specific user account and is running under local system instead. This can be corrected in Configure/Preferences/Security. So back to square one - no luck. Any suggestions? It's been so long since I had to make a user choice since I've had just about every Retrospect upgrade available over the years that I figured this installation would just accept the defaults I had previously used. I chose the wrong user account when I installed 8.0 and it's keeping me from being able to back up certain files claiming I have (sharing violations), (insufficient permissions).
  5. I upgraded to 8.0 today. Never had a bad backup on this computer with 7.7. Did an incremental backup to an existing backup set (created with 7.7) and I received too many errors to count which resulted in an unsuccessful backup. Can't see why my computer should not be compatible with this new software. Windows 7 Professional with loads of harddrive space, etc. -------------------------------------- Most of the errors show as (sharing violations), (insufficient permissions), (file directory not found), a lot of (can't read errors). Should I try to do an entirely fresh backup - new backup set, etc. to see if it solves the problems? Thanks!
