    Wake On LAN (WOL)

All those links above are dead and WOL still doesn't work - kinda thinking this is my last version of Retrospect.
  2. Retrospect WOL has never worked for me (or at least not in a very long time) on any version of Windows client - and not on Win7 or Win8 clients even now. I can send a WOL from any number of LAN utilities I have and wake up the computers, but Retrospect cannot seem to do it. PITA!

Disaster Recovery CD Still Won't Boot

I have had the same problem on an Intel System with the Intel Application Accelerator installed (Intel IDE Drivers). If I remove these (back to the WinXP default IDE drivers), then I can make a CD that will boot. I think there is a problem with the way the CD gets built if these drivers are installed.

    Reasons to upgrade

This is semi-helpful: http://www.retrospect.com/products/wincompare.html Open File Backup sounds cool, but does not appear to be part of the Professional Version.

    5.6 to 6.0 Upgrade process

thank you - between you and GoAWest, I got it. The first time I tried to upgrade, it did upgrade an old installation that was in a wrong named directory - why/how it found that path and used it is beyond me - something the rigistry perhaps. So I un-installed and removed that. However, once it did the bad upgrade, even removing all files and re-installing 5.6 did allow ther upgrade to work - I did not know about the new path ../Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Retrospect for config data. Once I removed that stuff, I re-installed 5.6, then the upgrade worked as planned. Thanks. I owe you both some beers or dinner or...no wait a second...Dantz owes you I think as I was about to dump this upgrade for a refund.

    5.6 to 6.0 Upgrade process

thanks - I did use the default install directory, and I tried copying the config file over - no go - it seems like it is getting information from somewhere else

    5.6 to 6.0 Upgrade process

I just purchased a 6.0 upgrade and the upgrade process left me with no scripts, no volumes, no previous settings - contrary to what the docs state, it did not preserve my previous settings at all. I called support about this and they wanted to charge me for sorting it out which is rediculous as that will almost double the cost of the upgrade for me. Before I fill out the refund request form I have been sent, and fall back to 5.6, I want to see if these forums are a viable support offering to get thru issues like this. I can restore back to 5.6 and everything works fine. So, how do I upgrade it properly? Thank you. WinXP Pro Intel P42.26 Intel D845GBVL 1GB CAS 2 RAM Ecrix VXA-1 Tape ATTO SCSI Adapter

    Reasons to upgrade

The upgrade did not go well for me - none of my previous scripts, volumes, settings, etc. were preserved. I called support and they wanted to charge me for support - on something I just bought. That's not customer service nor support. I have requested a refund and will revert back to 5.6 which actually has been working fine. If/When Dantz decides that upgrade revenue is important and are willing to stand behind the products, I might take a look at upgrades. Too bad - I have been really happy with 5.6 and the support I have received in the past.
