  1. Forget and re-add did not work for me. Forget, reinstall, and re-add worked on one of my macs. I have not worked on the other mac yet. Will do it tomorrow. My pc works with the old client. I will install the new one tomorrow and check it out. /Paul
  2. I have no error messages except that it keeps re-trying connecting and then gives up. Obviously, due to several reports above, something must be wrong. Are there any successes with client connection with the new versions? I also tried turning on/off firewall temporarily on both backup server and client but this didn't help Thanks, Paul
  3. I have exactly the same problem. My Macs are OS X 10.4.2. I updated one of the Mac clients too. Adding by address doesn't work either. Retrospect sees my Macs on the network but that's all. The Mac client configuration doesn't work. The Windows client is OK but the Mac clients don't work. Neither the updated nor the old client.
  4. I have the same date comparison errors with Retrospect Backup version 6.0.212 with Tiger 10.4.1 on a G5.
  5. Dear Nate: YES, YES and YES: 497 is NOT open!!! Port Scanning host: 10.0.1.58 [this is my windows machine] Open Port: xxx [not 497] Open Port: xxx [not 497] Open Port: xxx [not 497] It appears that the Windows XPO Pro update changed the port settings. After playing for about an hour, I managed to fix it Port Scanning host: 10.0.1.58 Open Port: 497 dantz Port Scan has completed ... The problem has been solved. Thanks for the help...Paul
  6. I reinstalled Retrospect on both the Mac and the PC. My Mac Retrospect still doesn't see my Windwos Retrospect Client. /Paul
  7. I will try it. I have nothing to loose, I guess. /Paul
  8. Hi Zackz: I did "smb://10.0.1.5" and it works. I am not surprised. Everything works in my newtwork except for Retrospect Client from windows to my mac. Regards, Paul
  9. Hi Nate: Yes, I did that even before I posted my very first report. Only 1/2 of http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=1109&p=2 applies to me since my Retrospect Client is on XP SP2 but my backup computer with Retrospect is a Mac. Also, I disabled the FireWall on Windows although it doesn't matter. Either disable it or not, it doesn't work. Do you know personally anyone who is using successfully a Retrospect Client on an XP SP2 and a Retrospect on a Mac? Thanks, Paul
  10. Hi Nate: I did disable that unused card even before I read your above suggestion. I did that last week already. Alas, it didn't help. Please note that all worked OK up until maybe 2 months ago. I installed OS X 10.3.7 and the latest Windows XP Pro update around that time. Regards, Paul
  11. Windows Client 6.5.1.36 Yes, I have 2 cards but this has never been a problem before. I use one card only. Do I need to do anything about it? No VPN is running. Running Retrospect 6.0.204, I can try to connect but with no avail. The message is "sorry can't connect to backup client 10.x.x.xxx". However, I can connect to the Mac clients with no problems. In every other aspects, networking between my Macs and my PC works perfectly. /Paul
  12. Hi Nate: It's open: Open Port: 497 dantz Also, I can use clients from my other Macs. Only the Windows client doesn't work. I am sorry I failed to mention this in my original posting. I kow this was a crucial piece of info. Any more suggestions? Regards, Paul
  13. I use the latest Retrospect Desktop on my Mac OS X 10.3.6 and the latest Client on my PC with Windows XP Pro. I used to be able to backup ther PC to my Mac. I can't do it anymore. I am not sure when it started but it may be related to the 10.3.5 => 10.3./6 update. Just a guess. Now my PC network is not visible to my Retrospect on the Macintosh. My Macintosh see the PC. I can ssh to it, ftp to it, use remote desktop, etc. Just Retrospect fails to see the PC. I get the "Client is not visible on network" message. I have no firewalll protection on either the Mac or the PC. Please help. Regards, Paul Nevai
  14. Sorry, I can't give details. I found this message on the my Mac in the morning after it did a regularly scheduled backup job at night. Backup device? None except a standard 160 G FireWire drive. My primary drive which has the OS is an external SCSI drive. Does this error happen all the time? Nope. It happened once only. /Paul
  15. Here is my error message. What happened? Mac OS X 10.2.8.
