    Oh, and forgot to say have updated to 7.7.208 as well. Mayoff: how can we go about seeing what Symantec is doing to Retrospect? Symantec aren't interested as their product is working OK and not failing?

    Hi, I've done a lot of testing since my last post, but as above I have found I can strip out Norton Anti-virus and the problem goes away. Put Norton back any anything from 2-3 days later the error returns, that's even when you run a full Liveupdate, it will still work until something happens a matter of days later. More that that I have been unable to discover, so at the moment I am running on AVG free anti-virus just to see how that performs, so far, no more problems. Steve

    No obvious errors in the event log. Ran a CHKDSK on reboot - all fine with no errors. The anti-virus suggestion made me think, that is the only program on my PC which I have set to automatically update without my intervention so: Tried disabling Norton Anti-virus 2010 auto-protect - still failed. Removed Norton altogther and re-booted, Retropect now working OK again, no more errors!! I shall do some more testing, including re-installing Norton Anti-virus 2010 and see what happens, must be an update that breaks Retrospect? Steve
  5. Hi, I've suddenly started getting these errors on all backups, one day they were all working fine, the next they all fail with this error.   6. Hi, Noticed there still seem to be a couple of bugs left in 7.7 (64-bit) even with the 7.7.1.102 update? Firstly my tape media does not eject at the end of a script, even though the option is selected and secondly the the Check Media option on exiting reports that the tape media is unavaliable for the next backup, even though it is loaded and subsequently successfully used? Anyone else noticed these? Steve
  7. Also noticed that my tapes no longer eject after a script is complete, despite the option being checked. Are EMC aware of this bug as well? Steve

    Retrospect 7.7 - link to download Disaster Recovery CD?

    The link, I think, was under the Backup>Disaster Recovery option in the program itself. It was broken anway and took you nowhere. Can't check now as I have gone back to version 7.6 as 7.7 is a disaster with upgrade links broken (had to try it on a trial license) and client licenses from 7.6 not working with 7.7, but no upgrade options?     Looks to me like the first $29 link is for the 7.7 upgrade but the next one at $49 is for the old 7.6 upgrade? Assume the EMC store is not yet setup or linked correctly? Steve

    I gave up like you and have gone back to 7.6. Found all my settings, license codes, jobs etc still there after restarting. Steve

    Retrospect 7.7 Update

    UK here too, and I've given up for now, EMC obviously don't want my upgrade fee. Firstly the links took me to the 7.7 upgrade at $29.00 which then only took you to the 7.6 upgrade at $49.00 so gave up there. Then downloaded the trial as suggested which wouldn't install at all on my 64 bit Windows 7. Then found the 64 bit version under the usual update page, installed but then my extra 7.6 client licenses won't work with 7.7 and no idea how to upgrade them. Phoning the US support is not an option from here in the UK so gone back to 7.6 completely. Disaster. Steve

    Am I missing something, following the upgrade links from the webpage given in the customer emails and other postings just takes you to the purchase option for version 7.6 upgrade in the online store?? Is it not ready yet? Steve

    xp crashes on 6.5 backup after hdd change

    If you used a cloning program like TrueImage then there can be a known issue which causes the Microsoft VSS (Volume Shadow Service) to fail when Retrospect starts to use VSS.     Yes, I wouldn't rely on it for a full system restore just yet, have that covered by another product. I can't see any 1017 errors with .508, the only ones I get now are: MapError: unknown Windows error 193 W2dbComRegOp: CoCreateInstance failed, winerr -2147024703, error -1001 Can't back up COM+ Class Registration database, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error) RegGetSystemRegPath: not in windows folder "\device\harddiskvolume1\boot\bcd " Can't access registry for "S-1-5-21-617958845-4010613110-1648738748-500", error -1101 (file/directory not found)
