    Sony DVD-RW 120L

I have tried all your suggestions, except the Sony firmware. I couldn't find any information or firmware downloads for it. But i managed to rewrite on CD_RW and it works fine with that through firewire, so i think the computer is fine as it can communicate with the writer easily. My only guess is a bad DVD media. even that, i used Sony's DVD-R and TDK DVD-RW. none of them worked. It keeps showing harware error as soon as i put the dvd-RW in the drive.

    Sony DVD-RW 120L

I posted this wrongly to Retrospect 5 group. Sorry, so here again: Using Ret.Pro.6, I've bought the new Sony 120L dvd-rw, hoping that 4.7 gig is enough to backup all of the clients .pst files in our Win2000 network. But so far couldn't manage to get it to work with the Retrospect desktop 6 on WinXP Pro. First of all, it takes many XP restarts and firewire cable swapping to be able to see the Sony drive in the Retrospect device list. And if I'm lucky to see it, then i get HARDWARE ERROR or MEDIA FAILURE in the sony driver status. I have downloaded and installed the latest Retrospect driver package and am using a new DVD-RW disk. Any ideas? Regards Koosha Post Extras:
  3. I'm running the Desktop 5.6 Retrospect on a W2000 PC. And trying to back up another W2000 on the network. everything works fine as long as the back up PC is W2000 admin. but when i log in as a user into the same pc, retrospect doesn't see the other machine on the network. Is there any way that i can run Retrospect when logged in as a user or do i have to have admin privilage all the time? I heard about additional software which i could buy: Retrospect clients for 5 users. Can anybody tell me what is that? would that solve my problem if i install it on the remote pc? Thank you Koosha
  4. No..Because we have 2 different workgroup with different subnets: One is the 192.168.1.xxx and the other 192.168.0.xxx and there are few Pc's on each workgroup.

    VPN??

Sorry..I think I posted this one to Mac group by mistake. anyway... Is there anyway to back up a remote PC through VPN? I can VPN to different remote machines and share files. But i can't see them when navigating from Retrospect Network. Koosha
