Bad Backup Set header and Generated MD5 Digest

    Any suggestions by chance?

Bad Backup Set header and Generated MD5 Digest

These are disk backup sets. We are transferring the snapshots from main servers to the separate backup sets "off site 1" and "off site 2." These two backup sets alternate every other week. Here is an example of what I am getting, except its around 500 errors: Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\ERRORREP\UserDumps\AppGw.exe.20100901-233719-00.hdmp" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\System Volume Information\37{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\WINDOWS\repair\default" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\WINDOWS\repair\software" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\Engine\OldEngine\avvscan.dat" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\ProgramData\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0002\comp0000\file0002" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\ProgramData\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0003\comp0000\file0000" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\Documents and Settings\joyceh\Local Settings\Temp\3\backinfo.bmp" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Health Service Store\edb.log" does not match stored MD5 digest. Generated MD5 digest for file "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Health Service Store\edb0096C.log" does not match stored MD5 digest.
  3. Hello all. I am running two backup jobs on alternate weeks. Off site 1 and off site 2. Both are copy backups of our main servers backup set. The main servers backup, copies to off site 1 every other Sunday and completes with no errors. The off site 2 backup is setup the same way as off site 1 and runs every Sunday opposite of off site 1. However, the off site 2 backup generates "Bad Backup Set header found" and "Generated MD5 digest for file..." in the verification process. I am trying to figure out exactly what this means, and how I can resolve it. Is all of our data being backed up? Will all data be restore-able in case of a failure? How can I stop these errors? I have included a screen shot of some of the errors from history if this helps. file:///C:/Offsite2_Errors.png Any suggestions and/or information would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Retrospect recovery seems to be working great. The one thing we would like to try and do is eliminate the need for the CD, and just use flash drives as some of our new servers do not have CD drives. Has anyone created a bootable flash drive for this purpose, or does anyone know how I can go about doing so? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Selectors Question

I want to thank everyone for their help and comments. I was unable to get any of the suggestions to work, but I did speak to Retrospect. They said variables can not be used and I will have to create a selector for each user. Now to look forward to alot of work. :/

    Selectors Question

I had tried that with my selector set up like this, and it did not work.

    Selectors Question

There aren't hundreds of clients, but I would say a good 70+. If it is possible, I would rather use some sort of variable to complete this task.

    Selectors Question

This should be a fairly simple question about selectors. I am trying to exclude a path from being backed up on users machines. Here is what it would look like for a specific user: Always exclude files matching folder name matches exactly C:\Users\JohnD.domain\Downloads Instead of setting this up specifically for each user, can I use a variable such as: Always exclude files matching folder name matches exactly C:\Users\%USERNAME%.domain\Downloads Any information that anyone could give on this would be great. Thanks!

    Mailbox Restore

Lennart, thanks for that last post. Helped me to understand what to do, but also raises another question. Under source I selected our mailbox backup, then in the bottom window I am able to select the mailbox I am trying to restore. Under destination, I then select our Exchange Server and in the list of mailboxes, I select the same mailbox, as that is what I am trying to restore. In items chosen, I selected everything, because we are trying to do a full recovery of this mailbox. I click restore mailbox and all seems to go well, however when I actually open the mailbox on the PC, none of the messages that were backed up are there. Any suggestions?

    Mailbox Restore

We are doing a backup of the mailboxes on exchange, not on the local machines. I was thinking if you were to have messages on a local machine that were deleted, you would be able to restore them from that backup (the whole box, not just a single message). Maybe I am misunderstanding how this works.

    Mailbox Restore

Even if I select our Exchange server, I am unable to restore it, as all client and server machines are grayed out.

    Mailbox Restore

Just doing a first time test on restoring a mailbox. We are running 7.6.123 with driver update and hot fix version 7.6.2.101. In the left column under restore, I click Mailbox, I then select my source (my testing mailbox) and then when I go to select my machine under destination, the OK button is grayed out and does not allow me to select it. It actually will not let me select any machine. I am wondering if there is an option that needs to be enabled, or if there is something I am not doing correctly? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!
