Any issue with running multiple backup programs

    Cool, thank you
  2. So, here's food for thought. Does anybody know if there is any issue with running two different backup programs on your system? Not talking about them both doing live continuous backups. I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket, so I have Retrospect backing me up in the morning and Acronis backing me up at night. Retrospect backs up to a file server and Acronis to an external hard drive. Mainly, I am interested in how each program does an incremental backup of files that the other program is backing up. I know there is this Archive bit set on files. Do these programs actually use this bit for determining incremental backups, or are they comparing file by file? I know you probably can't speak for Acronis, but I know you can speak for Retrospect ;-) Thanks!

Retrospect 7.7 Emergency Recovery CD does not work

I am an A+ Certified technician.. I know how to burn a disk. I don't have Vista anywhere on my PC, so why is your emergency disk showing a Vista splash screen? Obviously you are using Vista to provide the base functionality of your "emergency restore". Anyway, I have switched to Acronis True Image at the recommendation of someone else in this forum, and it is working splendidly. I am so tired of you support folks here. We get nothing but one line answers from you, and they usually are accusatory and assume that we are all idiots. I am sorry I have spent as much money on Retrospect products as I have... but it ends now. :angryred:

Retrospect 7.7 Emergency Recovery CD does not work

I should add I am on Windows 7.
  6. I have tried to use the new disaster recovery process, and it's just not working. I tried creating two of these CD's from the downloadable image using Powerarchiver Professional 2010, and they both do the exact same thing. The CD boots, and first I get the Windows is Loading Files progress bar, which finishes. Then the next thing looks to be the Windows Vista startup screen with the revolving progress bar, (the black screen that has the Microsoft Corporation text on it). It never gets past this screen. That progress bar just spins forever and ever. Why doesn't it progress past this point? What I can't understand is on the Windows is Loading Files screen, why is it accessing my hard drive? What would an emergency restore process need with the hard drive? Shouldn't all of its resources be completely contained on the CD? Something is not right with this process. I am not having a DR emergency right now, my HD is fine, I simply wanted to make sure that IF I did have an emergency, this disk would work. Good thing I tried it before I had an actual emergency.

    Retrospect 7.7 Update

Hi, would you mind telling us how you were able to upgrade to 7.7 when the Upgrade Matrix hasn't been updated yet? Thanks!
  9. Hmmm. Hasn't Windows 7 been available to developers for like a year now? Any idea on when a Windows 7 compatible Retrospect will be released?
  10. Hi there! I have an IDE drive with Windows 7 and all my files and software. I have an E drive which is a SATA drive. I want to use Retrospect to migrate my C drive onto my E drive (erasing what's on E) and then I want to set my E drive as the primary boot drive. So here's my question... which way should I go: 1) Just "duplicate" C onto E using the duplicate function in retrospect or 2) Do I first need to install Windows 7 on the E drive and THEN duplicate from C to E Or is there another method I am not considering? Bottom line is I want my primary drive to be a SATA drive, not an IDE drive, and I want to use Retrospect to do that migration for me.

Scheduled scripts not running when Retrospect is closed

Alright. I love this product so I am glad it is working. Hopefully others with a similar problem will stumble upon this post and also find a resolution from it. Have a great day.

Scheduled scripts not running when Retrospect is closed

I understand that. I am just surprised that you guys didn't catch that from the log messages.

Scheduled scripts not running when Retrospect is closed

So it looks like I fixed the problem by setting the login information to my file server that Backup Set A exists on. For some reason, using Retrospect manually, I never needed to enter that, but to run it on a schedule I needed to set the properties on Backup Set A and provide the user name and login to that server.

Scheduled scripts not running when Retrospect is closed

Hmmm. Does that make sense, since I am able to manually backup to Backup Set-A. If it's corrupt, I would think it would be corrupt for all backups, not just automated ones.
  15. Hi, I am running Retrospect Professional on Vista 32 bit. Since I have installed it, not once has the scheduled job I have setup run, which is 2am every day. Verifying the script and checking the media always shows everything is set to go. Every morning, I try to open Retrospect to see if it ran,and I only get the monitor box, indicating another process is running, but no Retrospect processes are in fact running, confirmed by task manager and System Explorer. I renamed retromonitor.exe so that it wouldn't run, and now I get the Window that says Retrospect is already running, but when I click ok it then proceeds to go into Retrospect. I installed the Retrospect main program and the driver update. My about screen reads the following. Keep in mind I am only 3 days into a trial of the product: Professional Limited Time License Version 7.6.123 Driver Update and Hot Fix, version 7.6.3.102 I found this in the log file. It says Backup Set A is corrupt but I am able to do an on demand backup to backup set A with no problem.
