  1. Thanks @DavidHertzberg for the info. I was having problems with my existing media sets so decided to scrap them all and start over. From reading the manual it sounded like a storage group was a good approach to consolidate all the backups for my Mac...I guess not (I do have several laptops backing up with proactive scripts so sounds like a storage group would be a good choice for those, though.) I have a number of different folders I'm backing up with different scripts/schedules from my Mac and external drives. Is the typical approach to have one disk media set as the destination for all of those sources or separate media sets based on location? (Or personal preference?
  2. Need some help interpreting the error message from the log (see bolded line below). Does this mean there's a problem with the catalog file? (Main Backup Media Set A is a Disk Storage Group.) 3. Thanks for the info. Interestingly late last night (without any intervention on my part) I got a message from Retrospect that the MBP had been added as a source. The laptop had been asleep ever since I had tried adding it in the afternoon. Even though Retrospect is in the Applications folder, I get an error when I try to update-. Will try the manual updater. Quit Retrospect, move it into your Applications folder, relaunch it from there and try again. Retrospect can’t be updated if it’s running from the location it was downloaded to.
  4. Just installed the v17.0.1 (141) client on 2 MacBook Pros using the same installer folder (with my public key) on each one. In Retrospect 17.0.0 (149) on an iMac Pro running Catalina, I was able to add one of the laptops but not the other. The client that's not being found is awake and showing "ready for Retrospect login" in the pref panel. I've restarted Retrospect and tried rebooting that laptop as well as uninstalling/reinstalling the client. All 3 computers are on my home wifi network. The laptop that's not being seen is running Catalina and the other one isn't but I do have a 3rd client MacBook Air running Catalina that was previously recognized without any problem. Ideas?
  5. Thanks @DavidHertzberg. I am using Retrospect 17 on an iMac Pro running OS X Catalina. Catalogs and backups are on a Drobo. I selected Rebuild on one of the media sets...should I select File then select the .rbc file?
  6. I have 5 different backup scripts that run on a schedule. Two of them always complete fine but 3 of them result in: !Catalog File out of sync with Backup Set I've gone to Media Sets and repaired the indicated ones but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any ideas about what could be happening?
  7. I am trying to schedule a script. When I set the time to AM, the scheduler doesn't show that change. e.g. add a new schedule--time shows as 10PM. When I change the time to 2AM, it shows as 2PM.
  8. It is working now so something fixed it...maybe Snow Leopard?
  9. understood--thanks. Besides file size limitations, are there any other disadvantages to File set vs. Disk? Also--what is the max file size in OS X?
  10. Just thought of something...should I create a File Media Set instead of Disk? It seems like I'd then be able to save it onto the Drobo. P.S. When I create a File Media Set, it seems like the file is saved in the save location as the catalog. Is there a way to change this?
  11. When I called Tech Support I told them about your message but I was told that they can't authorize free support because it's been more than 30 days since I purchased the upgrade. She told me to contact you to get a direct number to call.
  12. I just called and was told that tech support wasn't free. Can you please let me know how to contact.
