    Trouble reading files, error -1004

I was getting the identical errors as shown below. No one has changed the password for the account being used by Retrospect. I also followed all of the steps in the document at http://forums.dantz.com/linkhit.php?id/104/ which did not fix anything. The second storage group never had this problem. The Exchange server also had a error in the application event log stating that "An attempt to prepare the storage group 'First Storage Group' for backup failed because the storage group is already in the process of being backed up. The error code is 1293. (Note that if a backup was recently aborted, then it may take several minutes for the system to detect the aborted backup and initiate backup cleanup procedures, so this message may be generated if an attempt was made to backup a storage group before a previous backup attempt had fully terminated.)" A full reboot of the Exchange server appears to have cleared this error and solved the problem. It is also curious that the Retrospect Helper service on the Exchange server is set to startup automatically but will not stay started and has logged no errors in the event log. Is there a better way to resolve this problem if it occurs again in the future? Removed a mailbox

Another solution is described at http://msmvps.com/blogs/andersonpatricio/archive/2007/10/08/removing-disconnected-mailboxes-in-exchange-server-2007.aspx which involves removing the disconnected mailboxes from the Exchange server. This resolved the problem for me. Benson
  3. I just manually removed the history and events from August to October and these files shrank to about one gigabyte each. It would have been easier if I could have selected a range of events to delete instead of having to manually remove each one individually. A way to archive this information or move these files to another location would also be nice. Thanks for your help, Benson
  4. I have noticed that there are a pair of 3.4 GB files at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\ named Config75.dat and Config75.bak. I understand that these are supposed to contain the Retrospect configuration information in a binary format. This seems like a lot of information for three simple scripts and one tape drive. Is there a way to shrink these or move them to another drive? This server is running Retrospect Multi Server Version 7.6.111 with driver Update and Hot Fix, version on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 2 if that matters. Let me know if you want more details. Thanks, Benson
